Delhi is the world’s largest democracy, and in many ways is the essence of modern India, with its startling
paradox of old and new, foreign and familiar. Its fascination lies in its amalgamation of ancient monuments and the bustle and clamor of Old Delhi with Lutyens imposing and magnificent New Delhi. Now rushing headlong into the 21st century, Delhi, is also a contemporary showcase of designer shopping, trendy bars and restaurants.

Later in the day, we will participate in an exclusive activity called ‘Divine Blessings,’ which includes a Pūjā (or Pooja) ritual. Pūjā is a religious ceremony performed by Hindus as an offering to deities, distinguished individuals, or to mark special occasions. It is a gesture of reverence, adoration, and worship, symbolizing the act of giving and receiving blessings (Ashirwad) from the deity or honored person. Additionally, we will partake in the Saropa Ceremony, a traditional gift of honor presented by the Sikh community, often in the form of a length of cloth used for tying a turban or worn over the shoulders.

Explore the iconic Red Fort, a magnificent palace complex constructed during the 17th century by the Mughal emperors. Then, enjoy a unique ride on cycle rickshaws through the bustling lanes of Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, which houses some of the city’s oldest inhabitants and trading establishments. Visit the impressive Jama Masjid (Mosque) before continuing to Raj Ghat, the serene cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, revered as the Father of the Nation.

Next, drive past the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace) and the government secretariat buildings, admiring the grandeur of Kartavya Path (formerly Rajpath) and the poignant India Gate, a World War I memorial arch. Continue to Humayun’s Tomb, a striking example of Mughal architecture built by the emperor’s widow, and conclude at Qutub Minar, India’s tallest stone tower standing at 72 meters, surrounded by the ancient ruins of Quwat-ul-Eslam (Light of Islam) Mosque. Don’t miss the fascinating Iron Pillar, an uncorroded relic from the 4th century AD, showcasing Delhi’s rich historical legacy.

Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in the world and a significant Hindu pilgrimage center, draws visitors from across the globe. Renowned for its spiritualism, mysticism, Indian philosophy, and Hindu culture, Varanasi is adorned with numerous temples, Buddhist Stupas, and Jain temples. The city’s bustling bathing ghats are a central attraction, teeming with life at all hours of the day.

Upon arrival, this afternoon, we will journey to Sarnath, a sacred pilgrimage site for Buddhists. It was in this deer park that Gautama Buddha delivered his first sermon on the Dharma (faith). Over centuries, Sarnath saw the construction of several Buddhist structures between the 3rd century BC and the 11th century AD, and today it stands as one of the most extensive ruins along the Buddhist trail.

The performance takes place in a small auditorium with a seating capacity of 30-35 people, lasting between 75-90 minutes starting at 10:30 AM. You’ll witness the enchanting Kathak dance form, traditionally associated with the wandering bards of North India known as Kathakars or storytellers. Kathak evolved during the Bhakti movement, reflecting ancient mythology and Indian epics through rhythmic footwork, expressive hand gestures, facial expressions, and eye movements.

Later in the afternoon, we will visit Banaras Hindu University, where the magnificent Lord Vishwanath temple stands with its gilded spires. Our tour will also include stops at Sankatmochan, Bharat Mata, and the Durga temple.

In the evening, prepare to be captivated by the mesmerizing ‘Ganga Aarti’ ceremony at Dasaswamedh Ghat. This enchanting ritual unfolds every sunset near the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, creating a spiritual ambiance and leaving a lasting impression of peace and reverence.

Following the Taj Mahal, we will explore the impressive Agra Fort. This fort, with its majestic wings, royal chambers, and scenic gardens, is a remarkable architectural masterpiece that reflects the grandeur of the Mughal era.

Conclude the tour with a visit to the “Baby Taj,” also known as the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, renowned for its intricate craftsmanship and delicate marble inlay work. This day promises to showcase the finest examples of Mughal architecture and craftsmanship in Agra.

During your visit, you will participate in various activities aimed at supporting the well-being of these bears. This includes assisting the keepers in food preparation and creating enrichment treats for the bears. Activities will involve tasks such as preparing morning porridge for the bears—from picking up ingredients in the kitchen, to mixing and serving the food. Lunch will be provided at the Bear Rescue Center, allowing you to immerse yourself in this rewarding experience of caring for these rescued animals.

Later in the afternoon, embark on another thrilling game drive for another opportunity to search for tigers within the park. Ranthambore National Park is currently home to 43 tigers (22 male and 21 female), providing excellent prospects for encountering these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Despite the bustling traffic of bicycles, cars, and buses, Jaipur retains much of its historic charm.

Before Playing Holi, we recommend applying a layer of coconut oil, almond oil, or a good quality moisturizer on your face, hair and any exposed skin. This can act as a protective barrier and make it easier to remove color afterwards.
Jaipur is also famous for shopping and is indeed a shopper’s delight. In the evening, you will have free time to stroll down the busy bazaar and try your bargaining skills, amongst the multitude of locally produced items like mojri footwear, soft cotton quilts, handicrafts & many more.
