During the city tour, you will visit the Plaza Murillo, where the Bolivian government is based, as well as an important and immense cathedral and the Presidential Palace. There are also very interesting markets to visit, such as the “Mercado de las Brujas,” where community healers will offer an array of medicinal plants as well as potions, powders, incense, amulets and talismans that ensure good health, luck, beauty and fertility. You will also see locals practicing traditional rituals such as reading the fortune in coca leaves.

Then, you will visit the aptly named Moon Valley, unique for its features of lunar-like landscapes and bizarre geological formations. The Moon Valley is not actually a valley but a maze of canyons and giant spires. The clay and sandstone formations were formed by the erosion of mountains because of strong winds and rains. One of the most breathtaking features of the place is its varied colors, ranging from clear beige tones to sections of red and dark purple, due to the different mineral content between each individual mountain. Several species of cactus grow among the stalagmites, including the hallucinogenic Choma, or San Pedro cactus.

La Paz has the largest cable car system in the world. It’s a great and handy way of transportation, as well as the best way to enjoy the amazing views of the city and its surrounding mountains. Exploring La Paz by cable car is absolutely unique!

This evening, enjoy a gastronomic experience.

A gastronomic tour through the central area of La Paz, where you can taste typical Bolivian food but also creative cuisine based on local products,. At each stop, the group will pair their dishes the best offerings of Bolivian wines, beers and spirits.

At the first stop, you can enjoy a starter and drink at the restaurant La Boliviana, Following the route, you will arrive at the restaurant La Murillo to taste the main course and drink. Finally, the third stop is at La Rufina, where you will be greeted with dessert.

Transfer from your hotel to the selected restaurant and back to the hotel.

There is a viewpoint from which you can appreciate a beautiful panoramic view of the city of the four names.

Continuing the visit, you will enter the convent of San Felipe de Nery to appreciate the colonial architecture and the conventual life of the time. You continue your tour through the colonial streets, passing through the front of churches: San Lazaro, the first cathedral of the city, the convent of Las Clarisas, the church of Santo Domingo; and we reach the heart of the city: The main square “25 de Mayo” You end the tour with a visit to the “Casa de la Libertad”, where Bolivia was born to the republic.

Finally, return to the hotel.

Then, you will visit the museum “Casa de la Moneda”, considered one of the most important museums in Bolivia, The Casa de la Moneda, or Bolivia’s National Mint, is an interesting and insightful leap into the past. It is the perfect visit to begin to understand the beginnings of coin minting in Potosí and the evolution of Bolivia’s history. The national mint of Bolivia is also under UNESCO World Heritage status under the city of Potosi.

Then we take a scenic drive to Uyuni, gateway to the world’s largest salt flat. Learn about the industrialization of salt and the geographical history of the region while driving across this mirror-like landscape. Enjoy a sunset picnic atop the flats before returning to our hotel.

With many of the village’s younger residents fleeing for economic opportunities, this lodge is seen by the community as a way to rescue their indigenous culture and provide opportunities for the future. We continue, accompanied by a local expert guide, to explore the stunning landscape of the Bolivian Salt Flats by 4×4. Enter a landscape unlike anything you’ve ever seen as we drive across (or around) the world’s largest salt flat; the piercing blue sky contrasts against the blinding white of the flat salt beds.

Transfer from El Alto International Airport to your selected hotel in La Paz. This is the highest international airport in the world, with an altitude of 4,060 meters above sea level. The airport is located in the city of El Alto, about 17.5 km from La Paz and it will take approximately 50 minutes to arrive.

This evening, we will get together for a farewell dinner at the hotel.
