We start our journey in Tahiti, with its waterfall-laden landscape, shadowy mountains, unpretentiously beautiful black-sand beaches, sheltered blue lagoons and a distinctly Polynesian, modern buzz. Day 1 - Papeete

Welcome to French Polynesia!
Transfer to the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort and spa our home for the next 4 nights. Papeete, meaning the 'water basket' was once a gathering place where Tahitians came to fill their calabashes with fresh waters. Today Papeete is the vibrant capital city of French Polynesia that boasts world-class resorts, spas, fine dining and unique restaurants, nightclubs, vibrant markets, pearl shops, and boutiques. The mountainous interior is decked with deep valleys, clear streams, and high waterfalls, all bathed in green iridescence of natural light. The coastal lands, edged with a strong coastline, are home to fields of tropical flowers and majority of the island's population.
We will set off this afternoon on a Tahiti Island tour. Discover some of Tahiti's treasures on this afternoon tour. Begin by exploring the West Coast visiting the famous Marae Arahurahu, the restored Polynesian temple. This ancient site is where ceremonies used to take place. Continue on to visit the beautiful gardens and waterfall of Vaipahi. On the East Coast of the island, stop at Venus Point, the landing place for many European navigators. James Cook named it as such when he observed the transit of Venus during one of his scientific voyages to Tahiti. Finish the day at Tahaaraa lookout point (also known as One Tree Hill) for an outstanding 360 degree view of Tahiti, with the island of Moorea in the background.
This evening be welcomed to the beautiful French Polynesian Islands with a Soiree Merveilleuse Theme Welcome dinner, a Polynesian buffet and Tahitian dance show.

Day 2 - Tahiti

After breakfast we will meet for a half day West Coast tour. Discover the treasures of Tahiti's beautiful west coast visiting must-see and many local sites on this small group tour. Head to Tahiti's long black-sand beach in Papara, frequented by local surfers. The mouth of the Taharuu river also attracts families who come to swim in the fresh water. Other highlights of this tour include the Vaima spring a favorite among locals, Tahiti ITI Belevedere, the Monoi factory where you can observe how this wonderful oil is made. You also visit to the largest of the three caves of the Mara'a grotto, nestled at the foot of the mountain and surrounded by lush vegetation, and stop at a fruit and vegetable vendor where you may want to try some seasonal fruits.

Day 3 - Moorea

After breakfast we will transfer to Papeete Airport for our flight to Moorea. Polynesian legend declares that Moorea was formed as the second dorsal fin of the fish that became Tahiti. This off-shoot was called by the poetic name 'Aimeo I te rara varu', for the eight mountain ridges that separate the island. Also known as 'Eimeo' or 'Aimeho', the island's name was later changed to 'Moorea' (meaning 'yellow lizard') following a dream by one of the high priests. The generosity of the old gods is most visible in the panorama of volcanic mountain ridges: a long sierra of broken pinnacles and crags resemble a weathered and dismantled castle, with slender minarets, escarpments and rugged casements, through which fleecy clouds peep from the high horizon.

Day 4 - Moorea

Take a guided tour of the island of Moorea, begin with a stop at the Toatea viewpoint which will give you a glimpse of the geological configuration of the islands. From the Belvedere, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Mount Rotui in between the bays of Cook and Opunohu. Your guide will introduce you to the legends that accompany these majestic sites, and the history of famous navigators who changed history of Polynesia. Then you will visit the plantations of the Agricultural Collage and discover there many varieties of tropical fruit trees. Take the time to taste the juice and other local products derived from their agricultural plantations before returning to your hotel.

Day 5 - Moorea

Enjoy your day at your leisure. This evening we will meet to transfer to our Tahitian Feast at the Tiki Village Show and Dinner. The Tiki Village is a re-created Polynesian village. This picturesque village, nestled by the Lagoon of Haapiti, depicts the "old Tahiti" with its typical pandanus thatched-roof houses. There are several Little Huts where Polynesian women or men demonstrate mat weaving, Tiki carving, flower leis and crowns making, and tattooing. For an entire evening, in a Polynesian Village of Yesterday, enjoy a typical Polynesian buffet featuring many dishes cooked in the traditional ground oven: roasted pig, fish, chicken in Polynesian spinach, bread, fruit, taro, fei, barbecue chicken and beef, and different kinds of salad are available as well. With flowers, coconut palms, and burning torches, the feast decor and atmosphere are recreated just for you. During your meal, enjoy a trio of musicians, then a spectacular dance show that will tell you all about Tahitian legends, all performed in the natural settings of an open air theatre. The highlight of the evening is the fire dancing performed by young native men from Moorea.
