My name is Donna and I live and work in Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador with my husband. We have 2 sons. One lives in NL and the youngest lives in Dublin, where he is putting down roots. I am a cat lady. I normally have two, but have just one right now. I work at home as a Travel Advisor for Trevello and have been planning trips for about 15 years. My specialties are Europe and Cruising.
For the past 8 years we have been hosts for international high school boys. We have hosted 2 boys for 10 months each year from places such as Mexico, Spain, Germany, South Korea and Thailand. It is normal to see kids from all over the globe at my table. Over the years we have met some really good people from around the world.
For the past 6 years I have taught English to folks young and old from all over the world on an online platform, and I also used to volunteer with the ANC - Association for New Canadians - in which I played a small part in integrating refugees into the Canadian way of life.
My hobby is travel. Thinking about it, planning it and executing. I am a self-confessed Turkish Drama addict. I love to read. Especially stories about strong women. I love music of all kinds. Actually, I usually have some kind of theme song to go along with each trip so don't be surprised if I have a playlist ready. I do like to research places that I will visit, but not too much, because I like surprises and I love to learn new things. When people ask me 'What is your favorite place to travel?' it is very difficult to answer, because I love different locations for different reasons.
I have a passion for travel and different cultures. I often find the most pleasure from small unexpected events rather than the big must-see tourist destinations and from the people I meet along the way.
I think I have instilled that wanderlust in my boys too because they love to get out there and explore and try new things. The only language I speak fluently is English - even though I think I know how to speak Spanish, or German, or Turkish. I find out I know nothing when I meet people who speak those languages.
If I have any advice to give it would be: Keep your head up and look at the scenery and not your phone. Don't sweat the small stuff. Keep your sense of humor even when things don't go as planned. Life is an adventure so say 'yes' to everything...except if it's illegal.
And finally, when you wake up in a castle on your birthday.......couldn't help myself.
I would love to have you join me on a Women's Travel Club Tour. Let's go on an adventure together!
