Arrival Details
Arrive to Entebbe, Uganda – Entebbe International Airport (EBB) – at any time on or before the first day of the tour.
Departure Details
Depart from Kigali, Rwanda – Kilgali International Airport (KGL) – at any time on the last day of the tour.
Airport Transfers
Airport transfers are included with your tour. You will be met at the airport. After you exit the secure area look for someone with a sign with either your name or the Women’s Travel Club.  
 
If you have purchased your own pre-night or post night accommodations (not through the Women’s Travel Club) you will have to arrange your own airport transfer or take a taxi.

The Women’s Travel Club recommends booking flexible/refundable air tickets when possible. Please do not book flights until your tour status is guaranteed. Once your flights are booked, please enter your flight information on the pre-travel form above.

Our flight management fee is CAD 100.00 + HST per tour.



Entry Requirements and Information

Visa

For Canadian and U.S. citizens, a visa is required to enter Uganda. The visa can be obtained online. Visit this link for more information and to apply for your visa (select East Africa Visa) – Uganda Online Visa Application.

Citizens of all countries get 30 days visa upon arrival in Rwanda, without prior application. If you plan to stay longer than 30 days after entering Rwanda, you must seek an extension before the expiry of the entry visa.

Passport

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the last day of travel.

Vaccinations
A Yellow Fever vaccination is required for all travelers to Uganda. It is also recommended that all travelers be up to date on their regular vaccinations along with Typhoid and Cholera and take anti-malarial medication during this trip. Please contact a travel doctor or clinic for specific recommendations.

Proof of Yellow Fever vaccination is required for all travelers to Rwanda if you are coming from or have transited through an airport of a country where yellow fever occurs.

We recommend that your routine vaccinations are up to date and that you visit a local travel health clinic or doctor for advice prior to the trip. It is the traveler’s responsibility to ensure they meet all requirements.

Weather
Average temperatures hover around 27°C (81°F) in the afternoon and 16°C (61°F) in the morning. It will be colder at altitudes above 1,300m (4,265ft), including the gorilla parks. June is the start of the dry season, but it still might rain.
Currency
There are no guarantees that your credit or debit cards will actually work in Africa. Check with your bank prior to your departure.
 
UGANDA:
The official currency of Uganda is the Uganda Shilling (UGX). Notes are in denominations of UGX50,000, 20,000, 10,000, 5,000, 2,000 and 1,000. Coins are in denominations of UGX500, 200, 100, 50 and 10 (rarely used). The US dollar, Euro and pound sterling are all recognized currencies in Uganda and both Euros and dollars are now widely accepted for cash payments.
 
ATMs are available in the larger cities.
 
Visa cards are the most widely accepted credit cards and American Express, Discover and MasterCard credit cards are rarely accepted.
 
RWANDA:
The official currency of Rwanda is the Rwandan franc (Rwf). However, US dollars are widely accepted. Cash can be exchanged at banks and private forex bureaux (bureau de change).
 
ATMs can be found in Kigali and nearly all major cities.
 
Visa cards are the most widely accepted credit cards.
Electric Outlets
In Uganda the associated plug type is type G. Type G plugs have three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern. Uganda operates on a 240V supply voltage and 50Hz.

In Rwanda there are two associated plug types, types C and J. Type C plugs have two round pins and type J plugs have three round pins. Rwanda operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

A universal all-in-one travel adapter (can be purchased from retailers like Amazon) will allow you to plug in and charge most electronic devices. Most electronic devices have built-in converters. However, if you plan to use North American appliances like hair dryers, flat irons or curling irons you will need a converter.
