Recognized as one of the most sacred places in Bhutan, Taktsang Monastery has been a pilgrimage site for centuries. It was also visited by Bhutan’s unifier, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, in 1646, and remains a place that every Bhutanese aspires to visit at least once in their lifetime. Though the monastery suffered significant damage from a fire in 1998, it has been meticulously restored to its original splendor, standing today as a symbol of Bhutanese faith and resilience.

In the evening, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. Built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo, it is one of 108 temples he constructed across the Himalayas to subdue a demoness obstructing the spread of Buddhism.
