Weather
Temperatures can be quite summery in the middle of the day, but you should still expect colder nights and early mornings. The average daytime high temperatures in spring can range from 59°F (15°C) in Wellington and 61°F (16°C) in Queenstown, to 66°F (19°C) in the Bay of Islands and 64°F (18°C) in Auckland.
Currency

The official currency in New Zealand is the New Zealand dollar (NZ$). Coins have values of 10, 20 and 50 cents and $1 and $2. Notes have values of $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. There is no restriction on the amount of foreign currency that can be brought in or taken out of New Zealand. However, every person who carries more than NZ$10,000 in cash in or out of New Zealand is required to complete a Border Cash Report.

Foreign currency can easily be exchanged at banks, New Zealand Post shops, some hotels and Bureau de Change kiosks, which are found at international airports and most city centres.

All major credit cards are accepted in New Zealand, with Visa and Mastercard the most widely used.

ATMs are widely available at banks, along main shopping streets and in malls. International credit cards and ATM cards will work as long as they have a four-digit PIN encoded.
Electric Outlets
In New Zealand the associated plug type is type I. Type I plugs have three flat pins in a triangular pattern. New Zealand operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

A universal all-in-one travel adapter (can be purchased from retailers like Amazon) will allow you to plug in and charge most electronic devices. Most electronic devices have built-in converters. However, if you plan to use North American appliances like hair dryers, flat irons or curling irons you will need a converter.
