A special treat awaits as we immerse ourselves in the complex, participating in a workshop on making aroma soap or remedial cream with locally sourced herbs. As we craft our creations, we’ll enjoy the aroma of nosy Turkish coffee and the delightful taste of traditional “white” jam, truly becoming part of the enchanting atmosphere.
In the afternoon, we continue our scenic drive, basking in the ambiance of the magnificent Balkan Mountain. Crossing through the renowned Shipka Pass, we are treated to breathtaking vistas, each a masterpiece painted by Mother Nature’s skillful hand. The pass leads us to the striking Shipka Memorial complex, where the gleaming gilt domes of the church brighten the forestry scenery. We have a short stop-by and will have the chance to see the church both inside and outside and admire the colorful architecture before resuming our journey.
Our next destination brings us to the region of Kazanlak, famous for the emblematic Valley of Roses. Here, we’ll have the privilege of visiting the replica of the Kazanlak Thracian Tomb, a UNESCO-listed site dating back to the 4th century BC. The tomb’s hemispherical chamber is adorned with intricate drawings depicting intriguing scenes from the noble Thracians’ lives, offering a glimpse into their ancient civilization. This remarkable historical site leaves us with a sense of wonder and appreciation for the rich heritage of the region.
