Today, we embark on a unique journey through Dole, following the “trail of the Perched Cat” inspired by the famous tales by Marcel Aymé, who grew up here. Perched on a beautiful hillside, Dole is a city steeped in history, once the capital of the County of Burgundy. With a local guide, we’ll explore the city’s many historic monuments, earning it the prestigious “City of Arts and History” label.
We’ll visit the birthplace of Louis Pasteur, now a museum dedicated to the life and achievements of this scientific pioneer. Wander through the tranquil Cours Saint-Mauris garden, offering picturesque views of the Chaux Forest. Discover the former Hôtel-Dieu, now home to Dole’s media center and archives, and admire the stunning Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame, with its towering bell tower. Afterward, you’ll have some free time to explore Dole’s charming streets before we cruise to Ranchot, with the option to cycle along the canal’s bike path for a more immersive experience.
