While in Troyan, we simply cannot miss the chance to savor the emblematic plum brandy of the region. Our next stop takes us to the Vinprom Troyan distillery, a historical successor to the traditional rakia-production practices in the Troyan area. With roots tracing back to 1948 as a section of the State Spirit Monopoly, the distillery now stands as a national leader in crafting natural distilled beverages and spirits. Their Troyanska slivova, the renowned plum brandy, proudly stands as Bulgaria’s strongest brand. Upholding tradition, the company also produces distillates from apple, apricot, cherry, and pear. As a symbol of its excellence, Troyan plum brandy holds a well-deserved place in the list of products protected by geographical indications of source. During our visit, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the distillery, followed by a delightful brandy tasting session and a small keepsake to remember this special experience.
In the afternoon, we have earned a moment of well-deserved relaxation at our hotel. We have the pleasure of unwinding in the panoramic spa, which treats us to breathtaking views of the highest Balkan peak, Botev. For an extra touch of indulgence, we can pamper ourselves with a rejuvenating massage, or for those seeking the sun’s embrace, the hotel’s “artpool” offers a perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming, completing a truly blissful afternoon.
