This morning you will check out of your hotel near the pyramids as we will fly south to Luxor tonight. Before leaving Cairo, we will visit the thousands of treasures on display inside the Egyptian Museum, including the famous Golden Mask of King Tutankhamen, the youngest Pharaoh to rule Egypt.
There are simply too many pieces to see in one visit but your guide will highlight some special artefacts and give you time to wander at your leisure. You will find items such as granite sarcophagus and perfectly sculptured giant statues to ancient tools, mummies, chariots and even some board games played by the Pharaoh’s.
In the evening we will board a private Dahabeya, a traditional sailing boat like those that have sailed the Nile for thousands of years.
Our luxury Dahabeya is just over 12 months old and fitted out with all the modern conveniences such as en-suited, fully air-conditioned rooms, indoor and outdoor spaces. The Dahabeya is exclusively for our use with private crew, choice of menus and our own sailing schedule. Our Dahabeya will be our base for 7 nights as we sail north from Luxor to the Temples of Abydos and Dendera then all the way south to Aswan. We will stop at temples and sites along the way and usually leave the boat daily to explore Ancient Egypt. All meals are included and prepared fresh daily from local produce and served onboard.
