Weather In May, temperatures are warm-to-hot throughout Turkey and Greece in and average rainfall low. Expect temperatures with highs up to 32°C (90°F) and lows to 22°C (72°F). | Currency The local currency is the Turkish Lira. Although, Euros are also accepted in some places. ATMs are very common in Turkey with Cirrus and Plus system cards being the most widely accepted debit cards. While ATMs are commonly available, there are no guarantees that your credit or debit cards will actually work – it is important you check with your bank before departure and advisable to travel with more than one type of card. Visa cards are the most widely accepted credit cards, but are generally only useful for larger/expensive purchases. You should be aware when purchasing products or services on a credit card, that a fee may apply. | Electric Outlets In Turkey there are two associated plug types, types C and F. Type C plugs have two round pins and type F plugs have two round pins with two earth clips on the side. Turkey operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. A universal all-in-one travel adapter (can be purchased from retailers like Amazon) will allow you to plug in and charge most electronic devices. Most electronic devices have built-in converters. However, if you plan to use North American appliances like hair dryers, flat irons or curling irons you will need a converter. |
