One booster dose of the polio vaccine is recommended for adults. If you are staying in Egypt more than 4 weeks, you may need to show proof of polio vaccination when you leave the country. Make sure that the polio vaccination is documented on the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis. This is the only document accepted as proof of vaccination. ATM machines are widely available, especially in the main tourist areas.

American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard and Visa are widely accepted in hotels and restaurants.

Electric Outlets

In Egypt there are two associated plug types, types C and FType C plugs have two round pins and type F plugs have two round pins with two earth clips on the side. Egypt operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz.

A universal all-in-one travel adapter (can be purchased from retailers like Amazon) will allow you to plug in and charge most electronic devices. Most electronic devices have built-in converters. However, if you plan to use North American appliances like hair dryers, flat irons or curling irons you will need a converter.
