Please note that double occupancy availability cannot be guaranteed for pre and post accommodations. If you do not have a roommate available to match you with you will be required to book at a single rate.

Arrival Details

Arrive to Cairo - Cairo International Airport (CAI) - at any time on or before first day of tour. Transfer to Safir Hotel Cairo.

 

Your tour guide will contact you at the hotel on Day 1 and make sure you are settled comfortably. Ask in the lobby for the official time and place to meet with the group.  If you arrive late, they will leave you a message detailing what time and where you should meet the next morning.

 

Your tour guide will organize a short meeting soon after arrival, during which you will meet other tour participants and receive information about general and specific aspects of the trip.

Departure Details

Depart from Cairo - Cairo International Airport (CAI) - at any time on last day of tour. Depart from Safir Hotel Cairo.

Airport Transfers

Arrival airport transfers are included with your tour. You will be met at the airport. After you exit the secure area look for someone with a sign with either your name or the Women's Travel Club or G Adventures.

 

Departure airport transfers are not included.

 

Your arrival transfer has been arranged based on flight information provided to us. If you are advised of a flight schedule change within 48 hours of your scheduled arrival time, we will do our best to rearrange your arrival transfer however we cannot guarantee this. If your arrival transfer does not arrive within 30
minutes after you have exited the arrivals area please take a taxi to your start point hotel.

Flight Information

The Women’s Travel Club recommends booking flexible/refundable air tickets when possible. Please do not book flights until your tour status is guaranteed. Once your flights are booked please enter your flight information on the pre-travel form above.

If you would like assistance booking international flights for your tour please use the form below. The Women’s Travel Club Flight Desk will work with you to arrange the best options.

Our Flight management fee is CAD 100.00 + HST, per tour.

All local flights are included in the cost of your tour unless otherwise noted. It is important that we have your passport information at the time of booking in order to process these tickets. Internal flight tickets are issued locally and will be given to you prior to the flight departure.

Domestic carriers for internal flights in Egypt will be Egypt Air or Nile Air. Flight information will not be available until a couple of days prior to the tour departure. The domestic flight maximum weight allowance is 20 kg.

Entry Requirements

Visa
A tourist visa is required to travel to Egypt for tourism. Canadian and U.S. citizens are eligible for the Egyptian eVisa or to obtain a visa on arrival. Online applications are advised and you can apply at: https://www.visa-egypt.com

 

Passport
You should always make sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months past the dates of travel.  

 

Vaccinations
We recommend that your routine vaccinations are up to date and that you visit a local travel health clinic or doctor for advice prior to the trip.

 

Please note that Polio is present in Egypt. Polio can be prevented by vaccination. It is recommended that your vaccination against polio is up to date. One booster dose of the polio vaccine is recommended for adults. If you are staying in Egypt more than 4 weeks, you may need to show proof of polio vaccination when you leave the country. Make sure that the polio vaccination is documented on the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis. This is the only document accepted as proof of vaccination. In Canada, they are provided at Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres. Carry the certificate as proof of vaccination.

 

The Women's Travel Club recommends travelers to be fully vaccinated against COVID. Some countries will require COVID vaccination to enter, it is the traveler's resposibility to insure they meet all requirements.

Weather

Egypt enjoys warm weather year-round. In March, the weather is warm, sunny and dry.

Currency

The official currency of Egypt is the Egyptian Pound or ginee (EGP or LE). 1 Egyptian Pound or ginee = 100 piastres. Notes are in denominations of 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 1, 50 piastres and 25 piastres. Coins are in denominations of 25, 20, 10 and 5 piastres.

ATM machines are widely available, especially in the main tourist areas.

American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard and Visa are widely accepted in hotels and restaurants.

Electric Outlets

In Egypt there are two associated plug types, types C and FType C plugs have two round pins and type F plugs have two round pins with two earth clips on the side. Egypt operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz.

A universal all-in-one travel adapter (can be purchased from retailers like Amazon) will allow you to plug in and charge most electronic devices. Most electronic devices have built-in converters. However, if you plan to use North American appliances like hair dryers, flat irons or curling irons you will need a converter.
