Women's Travel Club Tanzania Northern Serengeti Migration Safari
Day 1 - Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania!
Upon arrival at the airport today you will be met by a local guide and transfer to your hotel.
The adventure begins tonight. We will have a quick welcome meeting before dinner, after introductions, your tour leader will review the details of your tour. Then we will enjoy our first dinner together and get better acquainted.

Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast depart towards Lake Manyara National Park for game drives of this very diverse park. If you are lucky you may see the famous tree climbing lions. Picnic lunch in the bush followed by game drives until mid-afternoon – then slowly make your way out of the park and head to Isoitok Camp Manyara. Stretch your legs a bit – together with your local maasai guide hike up to the viewpoint where you enjoy the sunset with views across Lake Manyara.

Day 3 - Mto wa Mbu

Meet with your local Maasai guide who will introduce you to his village, a Boma (mud dwelling) for an introduction into the Maasai way of life, beliefs and rituals After breakfast, get a better understanding of the natural medicines still used on a daily basis with a Maasai medicine walk of the surrounding area.
You will then head to the village of Mto wa Mbu for a local lunch before enjoying a cultural tour of this area and village by Tuk tuk.
Returning to camp late afternoon to relax.

Day 4 - Serengeti

After breakfast you head via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards the Serengeti plains – game drives en route to Seronera area (central Serengeti). Head over to the Rock Kopjes where you have good chances of seeing some of the cat families. Cheetah and lion use this giant rock out crops as observation posts.

Day 5 - Northern Serengeti

After breakfast enjoy a morning game driving in Central Serengeti, then in the afternoon you will start the drive towards the northern part of the park in order to try and catch a glimpse of the annual wildebeest migration, stopping at a scenic location or picnic site to enjoy your packed lunch.

Day 6 - Wildebeest Migration

Full day of game driving in northern Serengeti. With head out for a full day of game driving with a packed lunch or enjoy morning and afternoon game drives while returning to camp for a hot lunch and rest in between. Today you will be mainly concentrating on the great migration.

Day 7 - Balloon Ride Over the Serengeti

Early morning head out for a Balloon flight. View the Serengeti plains from a hot air balloon followed by champagne breakfast on the landing site.
Full day of game driving in northern Serengeti. With head out for a full day of game driving with a packed lunch or enjoy morning and afternoon game drives while returning to camp for a hot lunch and rest in between. Today you will be mainly concentrating on the great migration.

Day 8 - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast enjoy your last game drive in the Serengeti making your way from northern Serengeti back down to central Serengeti and then back through the Ngorongoro conservation area onto your accommodation located near Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 9 - Ngorongoro Crater

Morning departure to the Ngorongoro Crater - descend into the crater for full day game drives of the crater floor. There are 25,000 large mammals residing in the park, elephants are mainly bulls, females stay out of the park due to the largest predator population in Africa. Black Rhino also make their home on the grassy plains, their numbers make up for almost half which can be found in East Africa about 20 in total.

Day 10 - Arusha - Depart

After breakfast head back to Arusha in time for lunch at Arusha Coffee Lodge and a complimentary tour of the Shanga Shanga project before your transfer onto Kilimanjaro International Airport. It is time to say good-bye to this beautiful area and fabulous new friends as you transfer to the airport for your flight home. If you aren't ready to end your adventure yet continue to Uganda for our Uganda & Rwanda Gorilla Trek & Safari.

If you would like the double occupancy rate but don't have a roommate we will match you with a suitable roommate. The single occupancy rate will give you your own room. Single occupancy very limited.

Deposit of $350 CAD per person due at time of booking.

Most of the safari takes place in vehicles. There are a couple of shorter walking tours at a relaxed pace.

Ilboru Lodge

Nestled on the lower slopes of majestic Mt. Meru, the legendary Ilboru Safari Lodge has been welcoming mountain climbers and safari travelers to northern Tanzania for decades. Ideally located between the northern safari circuit and Mt Kilimanjaro, this beautiful Swahili sanctuary is set on a five acre plot , tucked away beneath ancient trees on the outskirts of Arusha town.

Isoitok Camp Manyara

The camp is set in a rich wild savannah bush location with an altitude of 1075 metres above sea level. It backs onto the Losimingorti mountain range acting as a natural wildlife corridor from the Ngorongoro highlands through to Manyara conservancy and on into Tarangire National Park.
Isoitok Camp Manyara offers a little more than just a place to put your head after a busy day of safaris and other activities and we do urge you to slow down as to fully appreciate the essence and importance of time relaxing and soaking in the African bush and her sounds with a few nights under canvas with us at Isoitok Camp Manyara.

Serengeti Heritage Camp - Central

Serengeti Heritage Luxury Tented Camp provides its guests with the most authentic Africa experience due to its colonial, old days hunter’s camp ambience. Sitting snugly in a clearing surrounded by Acacia trees its 13 spacious walk-in tents creates an intimate atmosphere for only 40 guests while indulging them with the amenities of a big lodge, as all tents are equipped with running water, flush toilets, hot and cold water shower.

Serengeti Heritage Camp - Kogatende

Also heritage tented camp has another mobile camp. This seasonal tented camp has en-suit bathrooms with hot shower and traditional African chair. Our Migration camp is situated at the Northern Serengeti (Kogatende area) July to October every year.
Although it is very difficult to predict exactly where the migration will be in a given month because movement depend so much on weather patterns and these can vary as much as 3 months, which is why we think mobile camp are such a great idea.
