Day 1 - Arrive Madrid

Welcome to Spain!
Arrive to Madrid according to your flight schedule. Enjoy your day getting acquainted with this fabulous city. We will meet this evening for a wonderful, three course dinner.

Day 2 - Madrid

This morning we will enjoy a Madrid city tour. The tour starts at the modern part of Madrid: Castellana Boulevard where we discover the skyscrapers and the famous Bernabeu stadium. Then on to Las Ventas Bullring Gran Via, Plaza de Espana and monument to Cervantes and Plaza del Descubrimento with the monument of Cristobal Colon The XVIII century area around the Prado Boulevard decorated with beautiful fountains. Visit to DEl Prado Museum (Entrance included)

Day 3 - Avila - Segovia

We head off this morning for a tour of Avila. Avila is known for its Romanesque and Gothic churches. It’s famous for prominent medieval walls, which were built in the eleventh century and surround the town. You will see a large number of Romanesque style churches, gothic palaces, a fortified cathedral of the XII century, and the San Vicente Church and Cathedral. St Teresa de Jesus, was born in this city which conserves the most ancient and complete fortified complex in Spain (XI century). Entrance included to San Vicente Basilica & Cathedral.
This after we will explore Segovia. The Roman Empire left in Segovia is one of the finest monuments within the Iberian Peninsula: the Aqueduct, it has 118 Arches and is 16 kilometers long, out of which there are only 728 meters visible. Also amongst its monuments the Cathedral of late gothic style also called "The lady of Cathedrals" due to its elegance and luminosity. The tour also includes a visit to the Alcazar, a beautiful and world famous castle located over a magnificent rock. Free time once back at hotel and dinner on their own. Entrance included to the Cathedral and the Alcazar.

Day 4 - Toledo

After breakfast we depart for a tour of Toledo. The beautiful imperial city-museum of Toledo. It is one of the oldest towns in Europe, called 'city of the three cultures', since Christians, Muslims and Jews lived together. Its genuine Spanish buildings include almost all the periods in the history (Arab, Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance and Baroque style). Also, the great painter El Greco lived here in the XVI century. The tour leads across the monuments of Toledo, such as the Alcazar, the monumental Primate Cathedral, the old Jewish quarter, and the Church of St. Tome, the old Synagogue of St. Maria la Blanca, Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes and the house Museum Victorio Macho.

Day 5 - Cuenca - Aranjuez

This morning we depart for Cuenca. Cuenca is a beautiful medieval fortified town and a UNESCO World Heritage City. The first Gothic church of Spain that was constructed between 1182 and 1270 can be found in the city centre and the famous ‘casas colgadas’ (hanging houses) are a must-see in Cuenca.
After lunch we continue on to Aranjuez. The town of Aranjuez has been declared a World Heritage site because the concept of Enlightenment has been adapted into the urban development. The focus on the balance between nature and man is brought into the layout of the city, expressed in the watercourses, gardens and architecture of Aranjuez.

Day 6 - Cordoba

After breakfast we will depart for Cordoba by high speed train. Once in Cordoba transfer by coach to the hotel and check in. Later, meet your guide at hotel, and set off on your walking tour around town. First stop is the magnificent Mezquita, a cathedral converted from an original mosque when the Christians conquered Cordoba in the 13th century. Modifications took place more than two centuries later, so the building’s original Gothic style is combined with Baroque and Renaissance elements. See the Cardinal's Chapel and its treasure – the monstrance of Enrique de Arfe – as well as an ivory crucifix of Alonso Cano plus countless sculptures and paintings.
Continue to Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a site also called the Palace of the Christian Kings, built in the 14th century by Alfonso XI. As you wander through the Jewish Quarter, dating to the time of the Romans, look out for important monuments dedicated to the most important sons of Cordoba: Roman philosopher Seneca, Arabian philosopher Averroes and Jewish philosopher Maimonides. Here you can also see Cordoba’s Bullfighting Museum and one of the few synagogues existing today in Spain, Cordoba Synagogue. Then continue to El Zoco, a market where traditional artisans paint and flamenco dancers practice.

Day 7 - Montilla and Seville

After breakfast we depart for Montilla where we will enjoy a winery tour and tastings (3 wine varieties, olives, cheese and bread). Montilla is famous for its sweeter, sherry like wines. We continue to Seville where we will stop for lunch with panoramic views of Gualdalquivir River and Tower of Gold.
After lunch we will have a tour of Seville. Discover the architecture of Seville in 1929, when the Iberoamerican Exhibition took place in the capital of Andalucia. You'll travel by coach to the Plaza de America and the Pabellon Mudejar by the Maria Luisa Gardens. Continuing to the city center, you'll pay a visit to the Alcazar Royal Palace, a fantastic example of the Moorish style with gorgeous tile mosaics, shady courtyards and Moorish and Renaissance gardens.

Day 8 - Ronda and Granada

See the main landmarks of the town of Ronda, including the Plaza de Toros bullring and its museum. Visit the Plaza de España, Ronda's main square, and the Church of the Holy Spirit. Admire views of the breathtaking background scenery created by El Tajo gorge, which splits the town into old and new districts, and see Puente Nuevo, the bridge that connects the two. Entrance included to the Bullring.
After lunch on our own we will make our way to Granada. The city of Granada is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, at the convergence of three rivers, Beiro, Darro and Genil, at 738 metres above sea level yet only one hour from the Mediterranean coast, the Costa Tropical. You will discover that there are plenty of things to do in this enriching, cultural city which is home to The Alhambra, a Moorish citadel and palace. The Alhambra is one of the most celebrated landmarks of the Islamic historical legacy and is one of the most enchanting, fascinating places to visit. Granada is also renowned within Spain for its prestigious University of Granada and, these days, vibrant night-life.
This evening we will enjoy a flamenco show with tapas dinner at Gypsy Cave.

Day 9 - Valencia

On our way to Valencia we will stop in Murcia where you will have some free time. The city of Murcia was founded by the Arabs during the 1st century. Since then, it has been a crossroads for different civilizations and core of the Mediterranean as it occupies an important location on the Rio Segura. The impressive Basilica (Cathedral), which sits opposite the modern Tourist Office, makes a great starting point right in the heart of the city. From here, explore the colourful, lively, little plazas that nestle in between the narrow streets. Murcia has an overwhelming array of museums, art galleries and centres and beautiful historic buildings, so if it is culture that you crave you will certainly enjoy your time here.
This evening will be a Paella Cooking Demonstration and dinner. The best place to learn how to prepare a Paella is the city where this delicious dish originates from, namely Valencia. During this paella cooking class, you will learn how to prepare traditional paella Valenciana.

Day 10 - Barcelona

Before we depart Valencia we will have a panoramic walking tour of the city, main sights include: the City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias), the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Silk Exchange (La Lonja) and the Congress Palace (Palacio de Congresos). Entrance included to the Silk Exchange.
We will continue to Barcelona and check into our hotel. We will have a cooking class with Boqueria market walking tour late afternoon with dinner included.

Day 11 - Barcelona

After breakfast, sightseeing of Barcelona, with a visit to the Sagrada Familia Cathedral. Travel up to the summit of Montjuic Hill for panoramic views of the city and its bustling harbor. Admire sights of Palau Sant Jordi and Calatrava Tower, and then visit the Spanish Village to see typical architecture and traditional crafts from different regions of Spain. Finish your morning with a cable car ride up to Montjuic Castle for more views of Barcelona’s stunning skyline, and then travel back down the hill by coach to central Barcelona.
This evening we will enjoy a farewell dinner together.

Day 12 - Barcelona - Depart

It is time to say good-bye to this beautiful country and fabulous new friends. Transfer to the aiport for your flight home.
