Day 1
Women's Travel Club Peru & Machu Picchu Tour - Lima
Welcome to Peru!

Upon arrival at the airport today you will be met by a local guide and transfer to your hotel.
Peru's capital with over eight million residents, Lima perches on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and has an uninterrupted history of more than 2000 years. A capital founded by Spanish conquistadors that subsequently exploded with influxes from Asia and then from Peru's own Andean highlands, Lima is perhaps the most fascinating city in the continent.

The adventure begins tonight. Feel free to explore before your welcome meeting, but make sure you’re back in time to meet the group. After introductions, your tour host will review the details of your tour. After our meeting we will enjoy a wonderful welcome dinner with our fellow travelers.

Day 2
Women's Travel Club Peru & Machu Picchu Tour - Lima
Lima

You will start the tour at "Peruvian Market" (Surquillo Market), where we will be able to appreciate a wide variety of Peruvian products, enjoy and taste exotic fruits and be amazed by a huge variety of fish and seafood. Next, you will visit the stunning Casa de Aliaga, historic house of conqueror Jerónimo de Aliaga, where his descendants still live.

Finally, you will transfer to the Larco Museum, which houses the unsurpassed private collection of treasures from Ancient Peru. This collection inspires its visitors, making them discover, understand and enjoy the more than five thousand years of Ancient Peru history through more than 45,000 pieces.

Day 3
Women's Travel Club Peru & Machu Picchu Tour - Sacred Valley
Cusco - Sacred Valley

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to board your flight. When you arrive in Cusco, you’ll be met by a local guide and transfer to the Sacred Valley. Heading towards the town of Pisac to tour its impressive archaeological site on the mountain top, one of the most important in the Valley, featuring incredible terraced hillsides and a high degree of urban planning.

After the tour, you will descend to the town and spend some time in the local market, interacting with the people, observing the local identity, and doing a little shopping.

Day 4
Women's Travel Club Peru & Machu Picchu Tour - Sacred Valley
Sacred Valley

Spend part of the day at the town of Chinchero, 35 kilometers northwest of Cuzco. The townsfolk are famous for having preserved traditional Andean weaving techniques. They also set up a market in the town square to sell handmade crafts from around the region to visitors. It’s a lively affair as they dress in their colorful outfits. Nearby is the town of Maras, you will enjoy a panoramic visit where the finest salt in the world is extracted.

Next, you will travel to Moray and tour the enormous circular and semi-circular agricultural terraces built into the top of a hill overlooking the Urubamba Valley and used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. Last stop of the day is at Misminay community. Upon arrival, the villagers will give you a warm welcome with music and typical dances. There, you will be able to learn about the Andean families' lifestyle, by sharing some of their daily activities with them. Then, you will enjoy a delicious and traditional lunch prepared with local products. Finally, you will return to your hotel.

Day 5

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Take a small overnight bag with you to the train (remaining luggage is sent ahead to the hotel in Cusco).
A visit to one of the most important tourist destinations in the world: Machu Picchu. The excursion starts with a train trip to the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo.

The natural beauty of the surroundings makes the train the best way to start your visit. When you arrive, you will start the ascent to the ruins, which will without a doubt be one of your most unforgettable experiences. At Machu Picchu you can see one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World and take some impressive photos. Lunch is included. Then it is back down to Aguas Calientes for rest.

Day 6

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel your day at leisure. Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel is an intimate Andean village with terraced hills, waterfalls, stone pathways and 83 whitewashed adobe casitas tucked away in the cloud forest. Member of National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World, the property has 12 acres of exquisite natural beauty, where 214 bird species – such as the golden-headed quetzal and the iconic Andean cock-of-the-rock – and the world’s largest native orchid collection (372 species) have been registered.

The hotel has a selection of included excursions that you may choose from, or of course, they have an amazing spa!
You may choose to use this day for an optional second entrance to Machu Picchu.

Day 7

This afternoon, you board the VISTADOME train for the return journey and transfer to your hotel.

Day 8
Women's Travel Club Peru & Machu Picchu Tour - Cusco
Cusco

After breakfast join your guide for a full day tour. Get to know the city of Cusco, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and possessor of a style all its own. The tour begins at the Koricancha Temple, an old Incan palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti. Once the Spanish conquered Peru, the Dominican order built a church over this temple’s foundations: the Temple of Santo Domingo.

Your next destination is the Main Square, then the adventure continues at the Sacsayhuaman Fortress built of enormous stone blocks expertly shaped by the Incas. The tour continues with visits to three archaeological sites: Kenko and Tambomachay, important religious and administrative centers for the Incas. Continue the visit to the San Blas neighborhood, famous for its artisans. Continue to see the famous Twelve Angles stone, part of the largest Inca wall of Cusco, which used to be the Hatunrumiyoc (Big Stone) palace, built by Inca Sinchi Roca.
You will have your lunch at La Feria restaurant; it is a tribute to the Peruvian traditional cuisine. After lunch, you will continue towards Tipon, an Inca archeological complex in which water flows through large carved stone canals. There, you will appreciate the Inca’s amazing hydraulic engineering knowledge, as well as a wonderful system of terraces from where the land still delivers privileged fruits until today. Then, you will continue with the tour towards Andahuaylillas, a place that holds a beautiful 16th century church, which has an impressive organ, decorated with angels and cherubs.

Day 9

Peruvian Cooking Experience

The experience starts with a visit to traditional open air San Pedro market. Here you will learn about our region’s culinary history and the unique ingredients. Then, you will have the opportunity to learn to cook exotic, delicious and healthy dishes with Red Quinoa, yellow aji and other ingredients that are a distinct part of our culture and heritage, but still easy to find anywhere in the world.

Our sophisticated, but easy to prepare dishes let you experience rich Peruvian flavors while providing you the expertise to demonstrate your new cooking skills back home. You will take recipes home for the two dishes you prepare, in addition to our famous Peruvian pisco sour cocktail.

Day 10
Women's Travel Club Peru & Machu Picchu Tour - Andes
Puno

This morning, we will be transferred to the train station to board the train to Puno
The once-in-a-lifetime adventure lasts approximately 10 hours 30 minutes. At the start of the journey, you are welcomed at the Wanchaq Station (Cusco), where local musicians will provide background music as you board the train. Once aboard, you can enjoy the two dining cars decorated in the style of the Pullman cars of the 1920s. The large windows of the Titicaca Train will be perfect for observing every detail of the beautiful landscape in this route.

Aboard this train, you will ascend until you reach some very high and cold places, part of the impressive Andes Mountain Range. Then, you will cross beautiful Andean plains, where you can observe vicuñas and alpacas in their natural habitat, grazing on the side of the road. Then you will stop at La Raya, the highest point of the route, to observe the impressive landscape at 4300 meters.
Also, during the trip, you will have the finest in gourmet food and indulgent afternoon tea. You can bring your carry-on bag aboard the train, and the rest of your luggage will be stored safely on the luggage car, where it will be carefully received and stored. Upon arrival in Puno, you will be met by a representative and transferred to your confirmed hotel where you can rest to be ready for the adventure on the following day.

Day 11
Women's Travel Club Peru & Machu Picchu Tour - Uros Islands
Amantani & Uros Islands

Today, you will have your excursion to Amantani Island, located at an elevation of 4150 meters and famous for its terraced hillsides where its people used to farm. Pre-Incan peoples claimed that this island was a sacred pl ace, and that is why, if you allow it, you can feel its mystical energies flow around you.

Upon arrival, the locals will welcome you, leading you to your home stay accommodations, where they will show you their day to day activities, like weaving, farming, mystical ceremonies, and others. Next on the itinerary is a stopover at the handicraft center and the main square. Then, it’s time for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, before returning to Puno, you will visit the famous floating Uros Islands made out of reeds, whose inhabitants still live according to the customs of their ancestors.

Day 12
Women's Travel Club Peru & Machu Picchu Tour - Sillustani Graves
Sillustani - Depart

After breakfast depart for a half day visit to Sillustani Graves. You will be taken to the ruins at Sillustani, a famous cemetery on the Andean plateau near Puno, next to the beautiful Lake Umayo. The site contains huge funerary towers called chullpas, which date from 600 to 800 A.D., some of which reach 12 meters high and are 7.50 meters in diameter.

On the way you will also see the Waru-Waru or interconnected canals used in agriculture. You will surely be impressed by the beautiful scenery in this zone. Next, a half day visit to the city of Lampa in Puno, known as the "Pink City" from the color of the local clay. The tour includes a visit to the beautiful colonial-era church of Santiago, built entirely of stone by the Jesuits between 1675 and 1685. You will also see the catacombs, in which those who died during the construction of the church were interred. Lampa has a number of town houses dating from the colonial and republican eras. One of the best is the Casona de los Frisancho, 300 years old, in Lampa's Main Square, in the heart of the city. Also included is a visit to the brotherhood of the Vicuñas de la Inmaculada, where there is an enormous silver bier built to resemble that which carries the Virgin of Macarena in Spain. Upon finishing the visit, we return to Atuncolla to have a delicious typical lunch in a local family house. The excursion ends with our return to Juliaca Airport directly for our return flight to Lima.

Day 13

It is time to say good-bye to this amazing destination and wonderful new friends. Depart to the airport for your flight home or continue with us to the Amazon.

If you would like the double occupancy rate but don't have a roommate we will match you with a suitable roommate. The single occupancy rate will give you your own room. Activity Level

Moderate Activity
While this tour is at a fairly relaxed pace you should be able to walk comfortably for short periods. Walks around the ruins will be at a relaxed pace but will require walking up and down hills and stairs at altitude.
