The Hotel Villa Augustus was born as a mill whose product served not only to satisfy the needs of the people of Lipari but also allowed the supply to the surrounding islands. Always owned by the Lords of Albora, in the 19th century the old mill was transformed into the residential villa and residence of the owners. During the Second World War the structure offered refuge and refreshment to the partisan militants who landed on the island. It was precisely this event that suggested to the Prince d'Albora, grandfather of the current owner, the idea of transforming the residence into a hotel in 1950.
Located in the heart of the historic center of Catania, via Vittorio Emanuele at the corner of Piazza Duomo, the Hotel Centrale Europa overlooks the Piazza Duomo; in this way you can enjoy a suggestive view of the famous cathedral and the eighteenth-century buildings adjacent to it.
