Itinerary
Croatia Tour
Day 1 - Zagreb

Welcome to Croatia! Upon arrival at the airport today you will be met by a local guide and transfer to your hotel.
The adventure begins tonight. Feel free to explore before your welcome meeting, but make sure you’re back in time to meet the group. After introductions, your tour leader will review the details of your tour. After our meeting we will enjoy a wonderful welcome dinner with our fellow travelers.

Day 2 - Zagreb

Zageb is made for strolling and our walking tour is the best way to see this beautiful city. This tour starts by walking through the historical center of Zagreb, on our way stopping in significant places related to Croatian history, culture, and art, such as Archaeological museum, Moderna gallery, Museum of Zagreb and the Mestrovic gallery. On our way we will do two or three breaks - one for lunch and another for coffee/tea.

Day 3 - Plitvice Lakes

Today we will journey to the spectacular Plitvice Lakes National Park. Have your camera ready as you take a walking tour around several of the lower lakes. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder of 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains and lush vegetation. Continue to the city of Split. .

Day 4 - Split

In the morning we will have a cooking class. We will begin with a trip to a vegetable and fish market and then walk to a unique cooking class. You would cook with a famous chef and his assistants and prepare delicious a lunch that will be served for lunch and accompanied by Croatian wines. Usually, you would prepare 4 to 5 different dishes based on fish, shells and shrimps, local vegetables, fruits and spices (homemade bread, carpaccio, risotto, homemade pasta, gregada, fish stew). A Dalmatian dessert will also be prepared, and all the recipes you can repeat at home.
In the afternoon enjoy a sightseeing tour featuring the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Then see the remnants of Split's Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter's Temple, the Peristyle, and the Cathedral. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 5 - Sibenik & Krka Waterfalls

Your day begins with a pleasant coach drive through the karsts hinterland of Sibenik Riviera. You will arrive in the town of Sibenik, the oldest Croatian town on the Adriatic coast. It is also called Kresimir's town since it was the residence of King Petar Kresimir IV, the most important ruler of the ancient Croatian state. It grew from an old Croatian fort near the fortress of St. Michael, which still overlooks the town. Upon arrival, you can enjoy sightseeing one of the most valuable sacral monuments in Dalmatia - the St. James' Cathedral dating from the 15 century. It is unique, not only in the Croatian architecture but in the European as well.
You will then continue to the famous waterfalls of the River Krka. Here, in beautiful natural surroundings, the River Krka forms picturesque waterfalls cascading over 17 natural barriers. You will visit the restored ethnological monuments to become better acquainted with the customs of the region. The preserved watermills are from the 19th century and have exceptional cultural and historical significance. You will see presentations of milling wheat, washing, and pounding of cloth, the weaving of fabrics and floor masts, horseshoe smithing, plowing, planting, the preparation of the food in the old kitchens and more. You will walk along the wooden paths to Skradinski Buk - the longest and the loveliest waterfall on the Krka River. This is a spot where the stunning beauty is expressed in full through the perennial play of sun and water. Here you will have free time for walking, sightseeing, photograph taking and swimming in this beautiful environment. Return to Split for overnight.

Day 6 - Dubrovnik

This morning you will continue to Dubrovnik, the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic”. On a morning walking tour of Old Dubrovnik visit the Rector's Palace, and see the Bell Tower Clock, Orlando's Column, Sponza Palace, the Dominican Monastery, and Franciscan Monastery with its Pharmacy, one of the oldest in the world. The remainder of the day is free.

Day 7 - Sea Kayaking & Snorkeling

This half day adventure on the Adriatic Sea starts beneath ancient Fort Lovrijenac in the small port called Pile, next to Orhan Restaurant. Accompanied by English speaking instructors (tour guides), you will set off to explore the caves and beauties of mysterious Lokrum Island, also called "The Island of Love". After paddling around the Island you will paddle across the bay until you reach a hidden cave beach called Betina, where you will have a break for snorkeling and sandwiches. The only way to reach this peaceful beach is from the sea, so you will enjoy a quiet and unique view of the city walls and discover the richness of the Adriatic underwater. After a short break on the beach, you will paddle along the coast toward the city walls. Beaches, palm trees, boats, villas, and hotels all form part of this tour. Paddling under the impressive city walls and the rocks on which they were built you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Pearl of the Adriatic from a different perspective. Unquestionably the most beautiful part of our sea adventure! Finish by paddling toward the initial position in the Pile Bay.

Day 8 - Montenegro

Travel to the Republic of Montenegro were we head to the mouth of the beautiful Bay of Kotor, the longest and deepest fjord in Southern Europe. Enjoy a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks, one of two islets off the coast of Perast. The Roman Catholic Church is the largest building on the islet, with a museum attached to it. Upon return to the coast, we will stop in Perast, an old charming coastal town. Visit the city of Kotor before returning to Dubrovnik.

Day 9 - Dubrovnik

Today is totally free and at leisure. You can take advantage of any optional activities available, do some last minute shopping or simply relax. We will meet tonight for a farewell dinner.

Day 10 - Depart

It is time to say good-bye to this beautiful country and fabulous new friends. Depart to the airport as needed for your flight.

If you would like the double occupancy rate but don't have a roommate we will match you with a suitable roommate. The single occupancy rate will give you your own room. Single occupancy very limited.

Please do not book flights until after March 13, 2020 unless instructed to do so by the Women's Travel Club. If not enough ladies are booked by the booking deadline then this tour may be cancelled. If the Women's Travel Club cancels the tour all payments made will be refunded.

Activity Level

Moderate Activity
There are a couple of walking tours. You should be able to walk comfortably for a few hours at a relaxed pace with stops. Some of the terrain may be uneven. There is also a kayaking excursion, you should be able to get in and out of a kayak and be able to paddle the kayak.

Besides being an excellent tour leader, Debbie is our office manager. She will often be the person helping you with the all the details of your tour. Debbie is equally as organized on tour as she is in the office and will make sure everything is well taken care of. She loves photography and you will often find her off taking pictures of all the amazing sights you will see.
