Weather

Weather can be unpredictable in Antarctica. For March, you can expect temperatures to be around -5 to 0°C (20 to 30°F), it can get colder, and of course, on a sunny day, it can feel a lot warmer. You will be given a parka to keep and warm boots to use for the trip. We recommend you bring hats, gloves and waterproof outer pants.

Currency

The official currency in Argentina is the peso (AR$), made up of 100 centavos. Notes are in denominations of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500. Coins are in denominations of 1 and 2 pesos, and 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 centavos.

Foreign currencies can be exchanged in banks and authorized cambios (bureaux de change) which are available in all major cities.

Most major credit cards are accepted, but not as widely as some other parts of the world.

ATMs are available in most cities, but it is advised to carry alternative forms of payment as daily withdrawal limits are low and machines don't always work.

Electric Outlets

In Argentina there are two associated plug types, types C and IType C plugs have two round pins and type I plugs have three flat pins in a triangular pattern. Argentina operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Expedition ship plug type and electrical current details can be found in your Ship Book. Please contact the Client Experience Team at guest@quarkexpeditions.com if you do not have a copy.

A universal all-in-one travel adapter (can be purchased from retailers like Amazon) will allow you to plug in and charge most electronic devices. Most electronic devices have built-in converters. However, if you plan to use North American appliances like hair dryers, flat irons or curling irons you will need a converter.
