Weather

In Madagascar in October, there are ideal conditions for a vacation. The daily temperatures in this month reach a pleasant 31°C (87°F). The seawater temperature reaches an ideal 27°C (80°F). At night, temperatures hover around a pleasant 22°C (72°F).

Currency

The official currency of Madagascar is the Malagasy ariary (MGA). Euros are widely accepted. There is a shortage of foreign currency in Madagascar due to an ongoing economic crisis. Some banks will not reconvert local currency to hard currency. Upon arrival, you must declare your foreign currency in excess of 10,000 euros.

Credit cards are accepted in some establishments with Visa being widely accepted and Mastercard and American Express being less widely accepted.

ATMs can be found in airports and most major cities and dispense local currency.

Electric Outlets

In Madagascar there are two associated plug types, types C and E. Type C plugs have two round pins and type E plugs have two round pins and a hole for the socket's male earthing pin. Madagascar operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz.

A universal all-in-one travel adapter (can be purchased from retailers like Amazon) will allow you to plug in and charge most electronic devices. Most electronic devices have built-in converters. However, if you plan to use North American appliances like hair dryers, flat irons or curling irons you will need a converter.
