Weather

March and April are excellent times of year to visit Borneo. Days are typically warm and dry, with minimal rainfall and light winds. You can expect a maximum temperature of 92°F (34°C) and minimum temperature of 79°F (26°C).

Currency

The official currency in Borneo is the Malaysian Ringgit (RM). It's recommended to arrive in Borneo with US dollars which can then be exchanged locally. Note that torn and old US dollar notes are not generally accepted in Borneo. Currency exchanges can be made at local banks. Airports and hotels may also provide currency exchange, but the exchange rates may not be favourable.

ATMs are widely available in cities and towns.

Credit cards (Visa and MasterCard) are accepted in major hotels and in most cafes and restaurants. Smaller, local shops and grocery stores may only accept cash. American Express is not widely accepted.

Electric Outlets

In Borneo/Malaysia the associated plug type is, type GType G plugs have three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern. Borneo/Malaysia operates on a 240V supply voltage and 50Hz.

A universal all-in-one travel adapter (can be purchased from retailers like Amazon) will allow you to plug in and charge most electronic devices. Most electronic devices have built-in converters. However, if you plan to use North American appliances like hair dryers, flat irons or curling irons you will need a converter.
